Soirée was inspired by a masquerade ball that I attended in Ybor City. The subjects were in the moment of revelry and I wanted to capture extreme emotion. The original composition was compiled from various candid images of the ball, then sketched and painted in oils on canvas.

Chiaroscuro is the use of extreme dramatic lighting. This painting captures the subjects in dramatic light and lets the backgrounds fade out.
