This painting is of my friend Olivia grape-treading at the loca winery, The Corkscrew. It symbolizes the hard work she puts towards everything she does in order to help make life a little bit sweeter for everyone. She is an inspiration and she does it all in great style.

I used impasto methods and various forms of mark-making. I left the stark whites in the painting as the white of the gessoed panel. I made the panel and frame by hand. The panel is a cradled hardboard panel. My signature is in the bottom-right corner.

Throughout life there are light times and times in shadow. Being conscious and accepting of contrast allows us the needed space to be our best selves. When we put in the hard work, like Olivia here, we can learn to appreciate both the crisp whites and the dark reds that life has to offer.
